You Are More Powerful Then You Have Been Taught To Believe
When I first moved to NYC in the 1990s, I quickly grew tired of people telling me my dreams were impossible. They thought they were dealing with an amateur in the do-not-tell-me-what-I-can't-do game. By my early 20s, I had become a pro at surprising people.
My lack of degree, southern accent, anemic family support, and kindness were not in my favor. So, I stopped telling people about my dreams. Especially when I realized that even those who love you can crush your dreams. So, my learned-the-hard-way advice is to stop telling others your biggest dreams. That isn't about you. It is about the fact that most cannot believe in their dreams. It is a hard fact of life that people who care about you will actively deter you because of their lack of self-confidence.

What happens as we age is that we buy into the idea that dreams are for the young. We also believe that the American Dream means you're done dreaming. Securing that career, car, house, kids, and pets is not the end of your dreams. It means that it is time for new ones. If you have stopped dreaming, it is time to start again.
I suggest you dream BIG!
If I had discovered anything about super successful people, it would have been that most of them were of mediocre talent. They weren't the best artists, singers, or tech geniuses. Don't get me wrong; some were really talented, but most weren't.
What they all had in common was a radical self-belief, every single one. They also had a shameless ability to self-promote and were willing to do things others weren't. Think about some of the poster boys for success, like Mark Z and Cambridge Analytica. Something he barely got a swat for doing. You don't have to screw everyone's privacy over to win at your dreams, but you do need an almost bizarre level of self-belief. You have to learn to pump yourself up. You have to learn to celebrate yourself. We are taught that it is wrong. When it is actually necessary to keep moving forward when in the trenches on your dreams.
Is it time for you to glow up? I grew my self confidence and learned to dream big! Is it time for a transformation? Join us at the GTFU Retreat in NYC August 3-4.
Start with actionable dreams and work your way up to big dreams. You may want to get fit and start a new business. Get to the gym and start thinking about a business that would make you happy. Get a taste of making your dreams come true, and then push yourself.
Life goes by so fast. Just three years ago, I was miserable in Florida. I was overweight, unhappy, traumatized, and hypervigilant in the extreme. I studied EVERYTHING: every face, license plate, person's energy, etc. It was for good reason, but it was an exhausting way to live. I was a PR pioneer no one knew anything about. I needed to spill my secrets and heal!
Then, I glowed the f up. I lost weight, got fit, healed my trauma, moved to NY, and stretched myself in many ways. I am now on my third book, first magazine, fourth business, and third splashy event, and I am about to kick things up a notch as an artist. I am not the most intelligent person in the room, but I have learned that years can go by of just existing, and it doesn't have to be that way.
You can live a delicious life!
