How to Look at Delays as Gifts
In curing my depression and anxiety years ago, I stumbled across a method for raising human consciousness. After seeing the transformative power of this process, I became convinced it is the answer to the mental health crisis, which is why that process has become part of all of my work. Although I am a diehard introvert, I get super excited to share that message in speeches. For the last year and a half, I have been bedeviled at getting some of that speech on video to share with supporters and fans.
It has been one weird issue after another. We have had equipment not arrive, audio go down, live streams collapse, stunning venues too dark for filming, and architecture and sound systems that made getting footage nearly impossible. As a lifelong perfectionist (natch), it was challenging for my zen. I was hard-pressed not to get frustrated.
Instead of allowing the delay to get to me (healthy thought habits!), I threw myself into my dreams. During those months, I wrote and released Memory Mansion, my first #1 hit, and started the SoulTech Foundation. If you have never written a memoir or started a nonprofit, both will force you to grow in new ways. It kept me too busy to worry about how crucial recent speech footage is to a speaker.

Meanwhile, I led workshops, retreats, book signings, and talks about self-love and conscious living. Some events were lessons in “failure,” and many were stunning successes. At all these, I shared my journey and lessons I learned the hard way with countless others. I was fed as much as I was trying to feed others.
A funny thing happened along the way. My mission became clearer, my words became more powerful, and tons of feedback helped hone the message's quality.
The delay in getting a proper video ultimately allowed me to uncover and share the best version of my message for when we could capture the speech. My point is that we only have problems when we label them as such. We are more empowered when we see delays as opportunities to refine and find avenues to battle for our dreams.

My dream of sharing that specific message with countless people finally came true last week at the launch and talk for my latest book, A New American Dream. We held a powerhouse event at Neuehouse Madison Square packed to the rafters.
It turns out that a year and a half of practice had blossomed into a powerful talk on driving your life experience and raising your consciousness. I was touched that so many people released tears and fears and came to me after the event to express their appreciation. It was a marked difference from the results of my first consciousness speeches and a reminder that delays are gifts to practice. Practice is at the heart of blossoming into your full potential.
So, if you manifest your dreams and feel delays, see them as precious gifts. Use delays, which is perspective thinking, as detours with much more beautiful scenery.
Have a beautiful week.
Namaste
